Product Specification
Linear encoders monitor linear motion and provide position feedback in the form of electrical signals. In a servo drive system, a linear encoder provides the precise position of the load in addition to the speed and direction feedback provided by the motor's rotary encoder. For stepper drive systems, which typically operate in open-loop mode without position feedback, adding a linear encoder can improve the accuracy and reliability of the positioning system without the added cost and complexity of a servo motor.
